ROMEO Y JULIETA

ROMEO Y JULIETA

History of ROMEO Y JULIETA

Founded in 1873, the Romeo Y Julieta brand once printed over 2,000 cigar bands! The "Romeos" are one of the most well-known and popular of all of the Havana brands. Over 40 shapes and sizes are produced under this brand, some of which are considered the very best in their size. Romeo y Julieta cigars have won gold medals worldwide for both taste and quality. With so many different sizes and so much pressure on production due to worldwide demand, it is especially impressive that the entire brand continues to be appreciated as one of absolutely top quality. Of particular repute are the Churchill sizes. As always, a large box (25 or 50) of untubed cigars (there are many tubed versions) is an excellent choice, although Romeo Y Julieta tubed cigars are also among the best available. The brand is also credited with introducing the "Churchill" shaped cigar, in honor of the famed warrior and British Prime Minister. British lore claims that when Prime Minister Churchill would meet with foreign heads of state, he would insert a straightened paperclip through the length of his cigar. As his cigar ash would grow longer and longer but not fall, it is said that Churchill would unnerve his often-hostile guests, allowing him to gain an upper hand during delicate negotiations. With so many varieties of cigars one cannot describe all the variations of flavors acheived by Romeo Y Julieta, however, a distinct trait of a Romeo Y Julieta cigar could be that it has been able to adapt to the changes in epicurian fashions over the centuries.

This isn’t just a cigar — this is Romeo dressed in gold and turning heads like he’s just strolled out of a Havana ballroom. Dianas is the diva of the Línea de Oro, the most exclusive line Romeo y Julieta has ever released. Created to celebrate 145 years of seductive smoking history, and let’s just say — she’s aged better than most of us.

From the very first glance, she’s a looker. That reddish colorado wrapper? Smooth, silky, and flaunting a four-seam cap like it’s her signature hat at a fancy derby. Light her up and the magic begins: cedar, a bit of sweet hay, and then BAM — a burst of brown sugar, toasted coconut, and baking spices waltzing in like it’s dessert at a five-star restaurant. There’s even a cheeky splash of Marsala wine in the mix, with a whisper of honey trailing behind like perfume on a silk scarf.

Let’s talk burn. Razor straight. Draw? Smooth as your best pickup line. And the ash? You could build a tower with it.

Midway through, things heat up — we’re talking roasted nuts, mocha, crispy pan-fried black bread (yes, really), cedarwood, and that oh-so-subtle buttery creaminess that makes you go hmmm. You’ll catch mint too — not in-your-face chewing gum mint, but more like a fresh breeze across a Cuban tobacco field.

Then comes the final third — the curtain call. Flavours explode. Earth, moss, peanuts, pepper, perfume, rose water, and basically half a botanical garden show up for the finale. It’s bold, it’s floral, it’s spicy — it’s drama in the best possible way.

Now, it’s true, this beauty smokes a bit quicker than you'd expect — max 80 minutes if you're generous — but the smoke output is insane, and the flavour journey is worth every second. One minute you're sipping creamy mocha, the next you're wandering through a flower market in old Havana.

In short: a dazzling cigar, full of charm and character. If cigars were people, this one would have a gold watch, a tailored suit, and a wicked sense of humour.
