Bourgogne Wines

I drove down to the Bourgogne area this weekend, to do a wine and food tasting weekend with a group of my fellow 'taste lovers'. I was pleasantly surprised by the wines I tasted, as I was not a big Bourgogne wine fan previously. Some fabulous 1ere Crus from the Beaune, Pommard and Volnay (all Pinot Noir) vineyards on the Saturday, with a very local and raucous Poulet de Bresse lunch at the Cave de la Madeleine (highly recommended). On the Sunday, we went for the Côtes de Nuits wines, as well as tasting a local Crémant (sparkling wine). If you are in the area, I would strongly recommend you take a couple of days to explore the area of Burgundy. Not only for the wine and superb food, but the area is littered with historical architecture from an array of periods (the Châteaux trails is breath taking). Enjoy !
