Welcome Night – Launch of the Montecristo Open series
The 11th Habano Festival opens on the 23rd of February with the traditional Welcome Night, which will be held in the National Theatre of Cuba. This is an evening of music and other performances, combined with the sampling of the best cigars in the world. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the all new Montecristo Open line, which has been specially designed to satisfy smokers that enjoy the pleasure of smoking outdoors. The Montecristo Open line will have four new vitolas (Eagle, Regata, Master and Junior) made entirely from the best tobacco grown in Cuba from the plantations of Vuelta Abajo.

Visit to Pinar del Río area
The plantation visit on the Tuesday will be to the famous Vuelta Abajo region, in the province of Pinar del Río. This area contains the perfect soils for growing tobacco and provides most of the tobacco used to make Habanos. It still amazes to see the entire process, from seed, to harvest, the curing, the rolling (for hand rolled cigars) and the packaging being done totally by hand.

Trinidad Night
Wednesday evening sees a tribute to one of the most exclusive brands of Habano cigars, a brand that was used for many years as a gift for Kings, Heads of State and Ministers, as was the case with the Cohiba cigars during the first years of the brand. This is currently one of the most highly appreciated brands being produced in Cuba. This evening, which will also see the presentation of the new Robustos T vitola, will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Trinidad brand, and the 10th anniversary of its international commercial launch.

The Gala Dinner
The 11th Habano Festival will close its doors on the 27th of February with the exclusive Gala Night, to be held in the Pabexpo. The evening’s program includes the presentation of the latest Habanos S.A. launch, the Gran Reserva Cohiba Siglo VI. These first Gran Reservas have been aged for five years (filler, binder and wrapper leaf) and consists of a single production of 5,000 numbered cases. Another of the highpoints of the evening will be the annual Humidor Auction. These are genuine, unique hand crafted works of art, made of cedar wood and containing an exceptional assortment of Cuban cigars.
