| Richard's Experience: All the cabinet Seleccions are outstanding cigars, yet there is something that stands out more about the Super Seleccion No.1 cabinets of 50. Perhaps it is the awe-inspiring harmony in the combination of flavours expressed by these Gran Coronas. They begin with mild earth and lashings of precious wood, they then evolve in a seamless manner into heavier and denser leather and cocoa. So the light turns to heavy but the smoke is given gems to decorate it, like a crown, honeyed parcels adorn the leather and cocoa. The senses are courted and the experience is very aromatic indeed. These stogies need space on the palate, avoid crowding your mouth with other tastes. If I was to recommend anything to serve with this intense Cuban it would have to be something non creamy, nearly watery. A sorbet made with a non acidic ingredient like green tea or basil. Recently I had the pleasure of dinning at a friends house. His wife is a Michelin star chef and she now owns her own hotel in Reykjavik. She served a cucumber sorbet and I was fantasizing about the combination of the Super Seleccion No.1 and her amazingly placid but intense sorbet! Sheer epicurean poetry! | |||||||||
